The Fishguard friends relax in Rosslare having completed their cycle across Ireland

A GROUP of friends from Fishguard, Wales, rounded off over 100 miles of a charity cycle in County Wexford recently, when they rolled into Rosslare after raising thousands.

Members of Fishguard Round Table and cyclists from the area, including Mayor Michael Mayberry, had set off in Limerick just two days previous.

They were spurred on by a mission to raise funds for a children’s charity which was close to the heart of the late Terry Wogan.

The Limerick-born giant of the broadcasting world had been a long-time supporter of BBC charity Children In Need.

With good weather and strong support from the Irish public, the group first cycled 62 miles from Limerick to Carrick-on-Suir, before getting back on their bikes the next day to complete their journey to Rosslare.

A number of Irish cyclists who joined in along the way also managed to raise around €3,000 for children’s charities.

Mayor of Wexford Cllr. Frank Staples was among those to congratulate the cyclists at a special reception in Hotel Rosslare to mark the finale of their ambitious endeavour.
