It looks as though Jurgen Klopp has stirred up the Loris Karius debate a little more by dropping the goalkeeper for Liverpool’s game against Middlesbrough.
Karius has been the centre of attention after recent errors against Bournemouth and West Ham cost Liverpool points, and criticism from pundits such as Gary Neville has only served to further speculation.
With Simon Mignolet set to replace him, it looks like Karius will have to win his place back.
A big call from Jurgen Klopp who has dropped Loris Karius from the Liverpool team that faces Middlesbrough tonight. Simon Mignolet comes in.

Liverpool’s recent goalkeeper history, ever since Pepe Reina, has been complicated.
For the third year in a row Liverpool No 1 dropped in December.

The question is: will Mignolet offer something different? The fans were divided.
Big call from Klopp dropping Karius tonight but it's the right decision. Mignolet the better bet on current form. #LFC

Mignolet will start today and will Let in 3 goals. We'll still win 4-3 tho.

Another issue seems to be that, having defended his goalkeeper from criticism, manager Klopp now seems to be sending mixed signals to Karius.

Dropping Karius just proves everything the Neville brothers have been talking about might be true and crushes his confidence, big call

Let’s see if Boring James Milner can help diffuse the tension shall we?
I've just asked Loris Karius if he is upset that he's been dropped tonight. He said What do you think, James? I said I think you are.

That’s better.
