Ireland’s fishing quotas will be more than 17,000 tonnes higher in 2017.

The Minister for Agriculture has announced total quotas of 233,500 tonnes or €280m for Irish fishermen for next year.

The deal was reached in the early hours of this morning following two days of intensive negotiations in Brussels.

Minister Michael Creed says he is pleased the quotas ensure that fish stocks in our waters will be managed sustainably.
