The Apprentice star Courtney Wood escaped by the skin of his teeth when he brushed off a howling porky as a typo in the gruelling interview round of The Apprentice.

The final five faced Lord Sugar’s pals for a vigorous roasting in the terrifying episode in which it was revealed Courtney’s claims of being the “country’s best salesman” might not actually be true.

It turns out he actually meant “county” but he managed to get away with it by claiming it was a typo.

He was also busted claiming to be a “head designer” when he was actually the only designer.

While the typo defence seemed to satisfy Lord Sugar and his cronies, viewers on Twitter were not so convinced.

But the audience forgave all when he was challenged to sketch a novelty gift idea and knocked up a Lord Sugar dispenser during his interview.

He had been put through a gruelling process, alongside Jessica Cunningham, Grainne McCoy, Alana Spencer and Frances Bishop, which culminated in Claude Littner telling him he wanted to give him a whack.

The Apprentice final will air on Sunday on BBC One at 9pm.
