Children are largely invisible in Ireland’s immigration system according to a new report.

That is the view of the National Immigrant Council who’s issuing a new report to highlight concerns around the system.

The report examined 32 case studies of people who moved to Ireland as children and identifies challenges facing child migrants.

CEO of the Immigrant Council Brian Killoran (pictured) says the report brings a number of issues to the fore: “We saw it in our research to look at the broad range of issues, that these young people were facing and to document the type of experiences that they had.

“In the vast majority of cases, the experiences that they detailed, showed severe cracks in the system which really impacted upon their ability to become adults in the state and to progress in the state.”
