Ahead of Saturday night’s grand finale we take a closer look at Strictly Come Dancing star Ore Oduba.

Here are five facts about BBC sports presenter and competition finalist.

1. His dancing won praise from Gene Kelly’s widow.

Following his American smooth to Singing In The Rain, Gene Kelly’s widow Patricia Ward sent a message saying: “I thought it was a beautiful tribute to Gene. He never wanted people to imitate his work, he wanted them to take it and create something new. Ore Oduba and Joanne Clifton did this with grace and style.”

2. He once pranked his then-girlfriend with a fake public marriage proposal.

After she instructed him to never propose in public, Ore tricked her with a pretend marriage proposal during a birthday lunch.

3. He’s scared of birds.

Ore made his presenting debut on This Morning last month and was forced to confront his biggest fear – birds. He had a parrot on his arm and was left shrieking after it moved.

4. Ore supports Man United.

5. He became tearful when invited to take part in the show.

Known for repeatedly breaking down in tears after performances, Ore said he had become a “jabbering mess” when he got the call from the BBC to take part in the show.
