Jockey Conor Smith has been hospitalised with a “fracture to his lower back” after he was involved in a road traffic accident on Sunday morning.
Smith, who is attached to Philip Hobbs’ yard in Somerset, will undergo further tests at Southmead Hospital, Bristol, the Injured Jockeys Fund said.

An IJF statement read: “Jockey Conor Smith was admitted to Bristol Southmead Hospital in the early hours of Sunday morning following a road traffic accident.
“Conor has suffered a fracture to his lower back and will remain in hospital while further tests are carried out.
“His family have travelled over from Ireland to be with him.”
Born in Northern Ireland, Smith was recruited by Hobbs in 2012 and has ridden three National Hunt winners this season.
