10,000 cigarettes and 10kgs of tobacco, two cars and €7,000 in cash have been seized in Cork in raids by the Revenue.

The intelligence-led operation on the northside of Cork City was carried out under warrant at a number of private homes.

Detector dog Harvey assisted in the searches.

Two Irish males, one in his 50s and the other in his 30s, were questioned.

The seized tobacco products, including cigarettes branded Jin Lin, Winston and Marlboro Gold and tobacco branded EastEnders, have a retail value of €10,370 with a potential loss of Revenue of €8,100. A file is being prepared with a view to prosecution.

Amounts of cannabis were also found in two of the searches, which gardaí from Gurranabraher and Watercourse Road are investigating.
