Staff at the Bausch and Lomb plant in Waterford have voted to accept pay proposals aimed at averting industrial action at the plant.

Employees were seeking full restoration of pay cuts implemented in 2014, and were due to begin industrial action tomorrow.

However, Siptu have said their members have voted “by a substantial majority” to accept the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) proposals aimed at resolving a dispute over their pay and conditions.

Siptu’s Gerry McCormack said: “Our members have concluded that the WRC proposals offer a satisfactory manner in which to resolve the dispute at the company.

“Our focus will now be on ensuring that the proposals are implemented in full and timely manner.”
