X Factor winner Matt Terry says his success on the show is all down to his mentor Nicole Scherzinger.
The 23-year-old, who beat Sharon Osbourne’s act Saara Aalto, to win the title, told ITV’s Loose Women that he “hit the jackpot” by landing Nicole as his mentor.
Talking about winning, he said: “I still can’t believe it. It’s unreal, I just can’t believe this happened to me, I never thought this would happen to me.”

Matt, from Bromley, entered the show last year but was not successful.
He explained: “Last year I remember being super ill for it but, I don’t know, I feel like this year I was ready and I think timing is everything and I feel like this year was the right time for me.”
The singer, whose new single When Christmas Comes Around was penned by Ed Sheeran, also revealed he and fellow X Factor contestant, Freddy Parker, are going to be housemates soon.

Matt revealed: “He has been like my little brother since day one but the rest of them as well, I’m so close to Saara and Ryan (Lawrie) and the boys from 5 After Midnight, we were such a close group of people.”
He praised former Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole saying he “could not have done it without her”.
Early chart reports suggest his single, which he performed on the show, has been knocked out of the running in the race for the Christmas Number One.
