Reindeer on Gorey’s Main Street in danger of being swept away by passing trucks? Pic; Christy Farrell.

Reindeer are playing havoc with the Christmas celebrations in Gorey. Firstly, the leaping quartet were unavailable to be launched with the official switching on of the Christmas Street Lights in November, but this week they finally made an appearance.

Erected on Tuesday and looking brightly on Wednesday, it now appears as they are at risk of being dragged from their lofty moorings by large trucks passing through the Main Street.

Some locals have expressed concerns for the safety of the reindeer, and rightfully too, if something bad was to happen it would more than a simple ‘Oh Deer’ expression.
