Talbot Hotel Wexford
ONE OF the largest employers in the South-East region, Wexford’s own family-owned Pettitt group, saw a six per cent rise in revenues last year to €120.5 million.
Led by chartered accountant Cormac Pettitt, a grandson of the original founder, the diversified group now boasts: six supermarkets, including four in County Wexford; five hotels, including Talbot Hotel Wexford; three pubs; agri-business Sleedagh Farms and other interests.
As well as the iconic hotels on the Wexford quayfront, the group owns Talbot Hotel Carlow, the Stillorgan Park Hotel in Dublin and the Midleton Park and Oriel House Hotels in Cork.
The group recorded growth across its entire empire in the last year, with its supermarkets accounting for three-quarters of all revenues generated.
Close to 1,000 staff are employed by the Pettitt group across the country, recently-filed accounts for holding company Torski show.
The details also show how profits at the group rose by about 50 per cent in the past year and that the group sits on profit reserves of about €57 million.
Sales at the family’s Sleedagh Farms agri-business, which supplies meats to many supermarkets, topped €1 million last year.
