A WEXFORD native has been appointed the new Chief Executive of Fáilte Ireland.

Paul Kelly has previously held such high-profile positions as Marketing Director with Diageo Ireland and European Marketing Director with Aviva.

A highly-experienced senior executive, Mr. Kelly is a commerce graduate of University College Dublin (UCD) and currently serves as Strategic Marketing Director with UCD’s Smurfit Business School.

His appointment, following a thorough and competitive process, was announced recently by Fáilte Ireland Chairman Michael Cawley.

The past pupil of St. Peter’s College, Wexford, is due to commence in his new role at the top of the Irish tourism world on February 1st.

Appraisals contributed to the new CEO’s LinkedIn web page hint as to why he may have secured the role, in praising his ‘strong strategic mindset and business focus.’

As one acquaintance wrote, ‘his unquestionable professionalism, intelligence and personal charm make him an excellent leader.’
