ONE OF the most popular annual events at Wexford Arts Centre will be officially opened this Saturday.

Now in its twenty-seventh year, Wexford Lions Club’s annual open submission exhibition captures and supports the range of talent to be found in the community.

It opens art to everyone with a passion or an interest to share, as is also the ethos of Wexford Arts Centre: arts for all, arts for life.

The exhibition provides artists at various stages of their careers with an opportunity to present and realise their work in a formal gallery setting.

More than just a show of art, the exhibition is a community which welcomes artists of every age, skill and interest level.

A remarkable response was received to the open call for work this year, with over two hundred applications received.

The exhibition’s ‘open’ brief truly grants participants the freedom to create exciting and original artwork and allows them to tell their own stories.

These are expressed through a varied range of subjects including urban and rural narratives, personal experiences, abstraction and even pure imagination.

This display of local artistic talent has become a long-standing and much-loved tradition.
