A VACANT house at Bride Street is expected to be placed under a Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) within the next month, members of Wexford Borough Council were told at a recent meeting.

Independent Cllr. Davy Hynes raised the issue of vacant properties at Bride Street and at Devereux Villas.

He said he had been told on more than one occasion that Compulsory Purchase Orders (CPO) were to be placed on houses, however this had not yet transpired.

“Is the reason why this is not being done because the money is not there?” he questioned.

“It’s absolutely unacceptable in a housing crisis.

“One thing that will bring down an area is having derelict houses there.

“If it’s going to be done, give us a date,” he said.
