One of the bright new buddy benches at St. Fintan’s NS

CHILDREN LOOKING for a friend to play with can now try the power of fabulous new ‘buddy benches’ which were recently installed right in time for ‘Friendship Week’ at St. Fintan’s National School, Mayglass.

The bright and colourful benches are the perfect place for any child who feels a little lonely or finds they need a friend.

Children at the school know the importance of inviting a child on the ‘buddy bench’ to join in a game, or even just go for a walk and talk.

Equally, they know it’s a-ok to take a seat if they themselves would like some company.

The idea of the benches originated in America, where a little boy became aware that some children find it harder than others to make friends or join in games at break times.
