A PROMINENT North Main Street premises which was seized by bailiffs during a high-profile legal dispute in April last year has been put up for sale with a price tag of almost €800,000.

The former long-time home of well-known Wexford family business Hynes Jewllers has been brought to the market by joint sellers Sherry Fitzgerald Haythornthwaite and Keane Auctioneers with an asking price of €780,000.

The prime premises was visited by up to five masked men generally described by passers-by as ‘intimidating’ on a weekday in April 2016 on which goods were seized and locks were changed at the unit at 19 North Main Street.

The seizure ordered by the office of the County Sheriff followed a dispute understood to be in relation to the payment of rent to Val Stone and Catherine Stack, who had owned the building since 2000.

In a statement issued at the time, Mr. Stone and Ms. Stack said the action was ‘ a direct consequence of the tenant’s outright and persistent refusal to engage with their landlord or the Court, in respect of long-standing debts.’

Hynes Jewellers has since re-opened for business at the former Xtra Vision premises on North Main Street and their former premises on the junction of Rowe Street and Anne Street now presents an exciting commercial opportunity for a business.

As Keane Auctioneers described, the unit is ‘presented to the market in very good condition” and ‘would suit many types of business enterprise.’
