
Carnsore Wind Farm
A PRE-SCHOOL, a day care centre and a community hall in south County Wexford have all benefited from awards presented by the ESB in 2016 to community groups living and operating in the vicinity of the Carnsore Wind Farm.
Almost €12,000 was awarded to groups in the area last year, courtesy of the ESB’s Wind Farm Community Fund.
The three local groups to benefit were: Páistí Beaga pre-school; St. Mary’s Day Care Centre and Tacumshane Old School Committee.
Páistí Beaga received €6,000 towards the refurbishment of a disused public house into a new premises.
The funding will give its team the capacity to meet the demand of its pre-school and after-school services.
St. Mary’s Day Care Centre received €3,000 towards the installation of a water-softening system and the purchase of hair dressing equipment for their premises.
The centre’s award will help the voluntary service to improve and expand its offering to the elderly of a wider catchment area.
Tacumshane Old School Committee also received €3,000, to go towards the upgrading of windows at the community hall which will help to increase energy efficiency as well as the overall comfort level of the hall’s users.
Commenting on the award, Jane McLaughlin of Páistí Beaga pre-school thanked the ESB and said “ours is a community organisation run by a voluntary committee made up of local community members.
“The group are currently in the process of renovating a new premises and the support could not have come at a better time.
“We have very limited resources for our renovation project and this award will ensure that we can upgrade our new room with a great quality, safe and non-slip floor covering.”
