Wexford County Council has ruled in favour of a major planning application for a 219 house development at Kilnahue, Gorey, where residents claim there was no consultation and they still have concerns over increased traffic flow in the area.

The Council’s decision was published yesterday (Monday), but residents are unhappy at the decision.

The biggest concern is that a large number of residents in the Kilnahue area, as well as parents transporting children to the local schools, are extremely concerned that two exits from the proposed development would funnel traffic out onto the narrow Kilnahue Lane which is already experiencing daily traffic congestion.

This matter has been public for a long time and the same developer was refused planning in 2014.

The Echo understands that landowners in the area were happy to co-operate and some councillors felt that opposition to the planning application is an obstacle to the provision of the much needed housing shortage in Gorey.
