IT WAS with desperate shock that the news broke on Friday night that an Enniscorthy man had lost his life having been stabbed to death at his Sydney home.

29 year-old father of three David “Motcha” Walsh was originally from Moran Park in Enniscorthy and moved to Australia around 2012 securing work in the building trade as a carpenter. On New Year’s Eve, the Enniscorthy man got engaged to 25 year-old Tina Cahill, a native of New Ross, however, the celebrations were short lived as she now finds herself charged with her fiancé’s murder after allegedly stabbing him in the neck at their home on Watson Street in Padstow.

Police received a report of fighting at the house after neighbours reported hearing screaming and smashing glass. It is alleged that Cahill and another house mate had arrived home after a night socialising shortly after midnight with another male, aged 36. When Mr Walsh awoke to find the man in the house, it is believed an altercation broke out which eventually resulted in his horrific stabbing.

Cahill and the 36 year old Australian man were arrested at the scene, however the man, bearing some scratches on his face from the altercation, was later released without charge from Bankstown Police Station.

It is reported that Cahill was “too distressed” to attend Australian court on Sunday. She was refused bail and is due to appear before Burwood local court tomorrow (Wednesday).
