Lee Chin tries out ice hockey as part of the #ToughestTrade series
LOCAL HURLING hero Lee Chin has highlighted the racial abuse he said his father still occasionally experiences in Wexford, despite having lived here for several years.
In an interview in national media recently, Chin said that, while he is no longer subjected to the sort of racial comments he received in his younger years, his Malaysian father Voon For Chin hasn’t always been as fortunate.
Voon For, as his son described, arrived in Wexford aged 20 and has lived in the area ever since.
Despite this, Lee added, “my father would still be out having a few drinks in Wexford and something could be said to him.
“It’s something he shouldn’t be having to deal with every day.”
