Jamie Wall was delighted with his side when interviewed after he led Mary I to the 2017 Fitzgibbon Cup by beating IT Carlow in Pearse Stadium.

“Today’s display is as close to perfect as you can ask for,” he said after the comprehensive victory.

Wall was on the Mary I team which lost the Fitzgibbon Cup final in 2013, their first time making it to the competition decider.

Since confined to a wheelchair due to illness, Wall has moved into management with the college and was described as an inspiration by his captain in the victory speech.

The Cork native paid tribute to the opposition before adding: “Our boys had one of those days when everything went right for them and we are absolutely delighted with our own performance.”
