Five males have been arrested in relation to an alleged sexual assault on a female in the Midlands area last year.

The incident is alleged to have happened on December 27 last year.

Gardaí say five males were arrested on Wednesday and subsequently released without charge.

A file has been sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
