A RENOWNED Wexford business has again been named one of Ireland’s best-managed companies.

Sam McCauley Chemists was one of just eight businesses across the island to re-qualify for a ninth consecutive year and receive a 2017 Deloitte Best Managed Companies award.

Comprehensive review processes each year have found that the business has consistently upheld the standard of a Deloitte Best Managed Company for each of the nine years that the scheme has been in existence.

Commenting on the success, Patrick McCormack, Managing Director of Sam McCauley Chemists Ltd., said that he was: “delighted to accept this important accolade on behalf of all the management and staff of the company.

“This prestigious award was a validation and recognition of the commitment to excellence that permeates the Sam McCauley Chemists Group, with the ultimate objective always focused on exceeding the customer’s expectations.”

The McCauley family’s involvement in pharmacy dates back more than 60 years to when Sam’s father established the first store in Enniscorthy.

Established 25 years ago this year, the Sam McCauley Chemists Group opened its first branch at Redmond Square, Wexford, in 1991.

It has now grown to incorporate 30 stores and presently employs more than 550 people in Ireland.

Demonstrating how the group has remained at the cutting-edge of pharmacy and retail, it has recently begun to accept a new form of transaction offered by Apple Pay.

An easy, secure and private way for a customer to pay via their iPhone or Apple Watch, Apple Pay works simply by having a customer hold their iPhone near a reader with their finger on ‘Touch ID’ or double-clicking the side button of their Apple Watch and holding it near the reader.

Open to companies from all 32 counties on the island of Ireland, the Deloitte Best Managed Companies programme is the only one which considers a business’ performance from every perspective.

The awards are an important marketing tool for the winning companies, while they also provide a reason to celebrate the efforts of the entire company.
