ENNISCORTHY IS set to be shown to the country in all its beauty tonight (Tuesday) as the town plays a starring role in Daniel & Majella’s B&B Road Trip at 8.30 p.m. on RTÉ One.
Local couple Moira Fowler and Michael Cullinan who run the Anam Cara Manor at Carrigabruce welcomed the country superstar and his lady wife for a special stay and in the process told their own story of how they fell in love.
The couple got together in recent years having first met back in the 80s. They fell for each other while working in Dublin Airport but Michael used to head off home every weekend and go out with his pals and she “got tired waiting for him”. She then moved to the US where she married and made a new life for herself. In 2009, her husband passed away and as fate would have it, Michael also tracked her down. In a dashing display of romance that would be unheard of for the current Facebook generation, he began ringing every woman in the phone book with her name and eventually managed to find her after 29 years apart. They fell in love all over again and opened Anam Cara in March of last year. Majella and Daniel were blown away by their story, as they seemed to be with Enniscorthy as a whole.
Among the activities they enjoyed was a trip to the beautiful surroundings of Vinegar Hill, where Daniel attempted to overcome his fear of birds by getting to grips with some birds of prey under the watchful eye of local falconers Jim O’Connor and Colm Travers.
“They were lovely people,” Jim said of the celebrity couple. “Really genuine and made you feel relaxed even with the cameras there. I think Daniel got a bit of a shock when he saw us with the birds, but once he got over it he did everything that was asked of him. I don’t know whether he went away with a bigger fear of birds or not!”
According to Jim, Daniel and Majella spoke very highly of their time in Enniscorthy and no doubt eagle-eyed viewers from all over Enniscorthy will be keeping watch to see how he, Moira and Michael got on tonight at 8.30 p.m. on RTÉ One.

Daniel and Majella made some new feathered friends at Vinegar Hill under the watchful eye of falconer Jim O’Connor in the episode which airs on RTE One at 8.30 p.m. tonight.
