Clang Sayne’s new album is out now

CONTEMPORARY WEXFORD musician Laura Hyland and her Clang Sayne quartet are set to officially launch their new album at Wexford Arts Centre this evening.

Performing a quintessentially spellbinding blend of contemporary folk, avant-pop and improvised sounds, the foursome are set to treat the ears of hometown music fans on this special occasion.

Born in London in 2008, the group also featuring drummer Matthew Jacobson, bass clarinetist Carolyn Goodwin and cellist Judith Ring has been praised by critics for bringing an ‘uncategorisable approach to songcraft’ which is ‘exhilarating in its refusal to conform.’

While the creative four-piece produce their own distinctive sound, flavours of such trailblazing female artists as Bjork and Joni Mitchell shine through Hyland’s vocals.

Recorded live in studio, ‘The Round Soul of the World’ purveys lyrical themes which are weighty and yet joyful and a sound which is big and yet intimate.

Hyland has described it as ‘an ode to the unknown: looking up at the stars and wondering what is out there; then seeking out that same sense of mystery and majesty in daily life.’

Fortunately, the group are now set to take that majesty out of the studio and into venues across the country with an Irish tour featuring accompanying live visuals by Donal Dineen.

Before they play Fumbally Stables, Dublin (tomorrow); Black Gate Cultural Centre, Galway (Saturday) and Triskel Arts Centre, Cork (Sunday), seize the opportunity to catch them live at the Wexford Arts Centre this evening at 8:30pm.

Tickets priced at just €10 are available from the box office at the venue, or online from wexfordartscentre.ie.
