VEHICLE SECURITY, fraud and Brexit were just three of the topics up for discussion when the Irish Road Haulage Association Conference, sponsored by Wright Insurance Brokers, took place recently at Clayton Whites Hotel.

Wright Insurance Brokers’ annual Haulage Insurance Seminar coincided with the weekend conference and saw a record turnout of over 350 operators from the transport sector.

The Wexford-based company has a record of not shying away from discussing challenges and highlight the key insurance issues facing industry, taking the view that to be forewarned is to be forearmed.

Their recent seminar continued in this style and tackled a number of contentious issues facing the sector.

Solicitor Damian McGeady addressed all in attendance on topics including damage to loads by clandestines, vehicle security and contract conditions.

Intriguing examples of fraud indicators of which all in the industry should be mindful were flagged during the seminar by international fraud expert, David Snow.

Ireland’s leading economist and media commentator, Jim Power, meanwhile, shared his views on Brexit and its potential effects on the transport industry over the coming years.
