GARDAÍ IN Wexford appear to have inflated figures for breath tests less than their counterparts in any other Garda division in the country, according to the results of an internal investigation.
There was five per cent in the difference between the number of tests Gardaí in Wexford claimed to have conducted and the figures accurately recorded on breathalyser devices, compared with corresponding percentages reported to have numbered in the double or treble digits in all other stations nationwide.
As reported in national media, there was a 400 per cent discrepancy in some divisions between the numbers of tests actually recorded and the numbers claimed to have been conducted by Gardaí.
