The body of a woman was discovered in a car that was submerged in the sea near Roney Point this afternoon.

Courtown Lifeboat RNLI were alerted at 2.30 pm and rushed to the scene where they located a car in the sea,

The car was towed ashore where the Coastguard and the Gardaí carried out an inspection and located a body inside the vehicle.

The deceased is believed to be from Tullamore and unknown in the area.
