OVER 100 new jobs in the county were directly created in 2016 by Wexford Local Enterprise Office (LEO).

The Wexford County Council entity, one of 31 such bodies nationwide run by local authorities in partnership with Enterprise Ireland, provides a ‘first-stop shop’ for enterprise supports and sign-posting to start-ups, micro-enterprises and small businesses in one local, easily-accessible location.

According to the results of the latest LEO annual jobs survey published recently by Minister Mary Mitchell O’Connor TD, the body created some 103 new jobs in net terms across County Wexford last year.

Some 28 business projects were supported by Wexford LEO in 2016, with a total of €389,034 distributed in grant aid.

Training programmes were delivered to 948 people locally over the course of the twelve months, while an additional 121 businesses availed of the entity’s specialist mentoring support.

Head of Enterprise with Local Enterprise Office Wexford, Tom Banville, welcomed the figures and paid tribute to the local LEO team.
