Maureen Breen (proprietor) and Elaine Hennell sold a big lottery winning ticket in Gwalia Stores, Gorey, last Friday.

An unidentified customer who visited the Gwalia Stores on Gorey’s Main Street last Friday is richer by €269,554 after purchasing a ticket in the EuroMillions lottery.

It is unknown if the lucky winner is a regular customer at the shop or just dropped in for a small item and purchased a ticket while there.

Shop owner, Maureen Breen, was delighted that the ticket was purchased in her shop and, while she confirmed that it wasn’t herself, she was delighted for whoever purchased the lucky ticket.

It was bought on Friday and the National Lottery has been in touch to say that we sold a winner,” she said.

The National Lottery confirmed that they had found the winning ticket holder and were in the process of making arrangements for the winnings to be collected.

Gwalia Stores is a small shop trading mostly in newspapers, magazines, soft drinks and small items, but scratch cards and lottery tickets are a big part of the trade.

A few years ago a regular customer from Gorey won €50,000 on a scratch card purchased at the popular shop.
