Dr. Niall Muldoon, Ombudsman for Children at the launch of his office’s annual report at O’Callaghan’s Alexander Hotel, Dublin

SOME 67 complaints were made by, or on behalf of, children in County Wexford, to the Ombudsman for Children’s Office last year.

Ombudsman Dr. Niall Muldoon announced the figures while launching his office’s Annual Report for 2016.

There was a rise in the overall number of complaints made nationwide to 1,682.

As Dr. Muldoon highlighted, “each of these complaints relate to at least one child.

“Most of the complaints we receive are from Dublin but we want children, families and all those who work with children to know that anyone can make a complaint to my office if they are not happy about a service being provided for a child.”

A significant proportion of complaints made nationwide, some 46 per cent, had a connection to education.
