WEXFORD COUNTY Council (WCC) has committed to reducing its energy consumption by one third in signing a Public Sector Energy Partnership with the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI).

The agreement strengthens Wexford County Council’s commitment to improving the Council’s overall energy efficiency through the delivery of upgrades to public services across County Wexford.

By its actions, WCC is set to both reduce the financial cost of delivering such services and make them more sustainable into the future.

With the support of experts from SEAI and the Carlow Kilkenny Wexford Energy Agency (CKWEA), the Council’s Energy Team will, over the coming months, assess the potential to save energy costs within the Council and develop a Sustainable Energy Action Plan.

The Team will lead the implementation of the Plan by undertaking specific, targeted actions to achieve the reduction target of 33 per cent by 2020.
