It may appear amazing that the popular television series, and now also a movie, Mrs Brown’s Boys, would inspire an award-winning garden, but that is exactly what happened recently.

North Wexford garden designers, Paul and Orla Woods, have scooped silver gilt at this year’s Bloom, Bord Bia’s gardening, food and family festival, with their small garden Mrs Brown’s Boys D’Garden.

The idea behind the garden is to connect visitors’ familiarity they have with the Mrs. Brown’s Kitchen set and open it into a garden area accessed through the familiar kitchen door.

Mrs Brown’s Boys D’Movie Garden was adjudged the best in its category.

“We were delighted to win and the President and Mrs Higgins came to visit our garden,” said Orla, whose gardens at Kimurry are included in the Wexford Garden Trail and open to the public from Monday to Saturday until the end of September.
