Broadcaster Ryan Tubridy, better known as a bookworm than an athlete, seems determined to embrace the sporting world in the new season of the Late Late Show.
He kicked off last week with interviews with Olympic medallists Paul O’Donovan, Gary O’Donovan and Annalise Murphy, followed by chats with Sports minister Shane Ross and boxer Michael Conlan.
And this week’s episode will see him turn his attention to the increasingly popular world of MMA.

The show’s Twitter page is busy promoting an interview with John Kavanagh, who coaches UFC star Conor McGregor.
And judging by the clip they released, Tubridy is a natural in the octagon.
Kavanagh is one of MMA’s top coaches and has also published a biography, ‘Win or Learn: MMA, Conor McGregor and Me: A Trainer’s Journey’.
Tubs may not be intending to pursue a fighting career but the interview should be well worth tuning in for.
