Fresh from their recent wedding celebrations, a newlywed couple from Co. Kildare had even more reasons to celebrate their new life together after they scooped the top prize of €500,000 on the EuroMillions Plus draw on Friday 4 November.

The loved-up couple who wish to keep their win private, bought their winning Quick Pick selection ticket at the News 4 U newsagent at the Glenroyal Shopping Centre in Maynooth Co. Kildare on the day of the draw.

‘This past month has been a dream come true with the wedding and everything but to top it all off with a half a million euro win is beyond any dream we could have,’ smiled the winning husband who explained plans for their massive win.

‘We are currently living in rented accommodation at the moment and we were resigned to the fact that we probably would never have been in a position to buy our own home. We know exactly where we want to live so we will start home hunting in the next couple of days,’ he beamed.

While just very recently married, the hard working couple admitted that they would enjoy their win and treat themselves to the honeymoon that they never had, ‘We’re only recently married and with our work commitments, we were not in a position to take time off for a honeymoon. We’re going to make some arrangements and make sure we get away for a romantic break in January,’ they said.

The couple only found out about their win on the Monday following Friday’s draw after the lucky husband checked his tickets on his day off work, ‘After buying the ticket on Friday evening, I had a long weekend in work so I was really looking forward to my day off on Monday. In the morning, I picked up the ticket and checked it on my phone.

“I was absolutely stunned when I saw the winning numbers and it only sank in after I confirmed the win with the National Lottery. I made my way up to where my wife works and when we saw each other, we just cried tears of joy as we hugged,’ he said.
