Blessed with its extraordinary staff

A NEW teacher in Gorey Gaelscoil has been commended this week after she was awarded two big awards at her third level college, Laoise Ní Chléirigh, who graduated from Froebel College of Education this year, was awarded a Vere Foster gold medal for receiving the highest marks on teaching practice and for getting the best results overall in the college.

Fifty one seniors turned out last week in pleasant summer conditions. Scoring was once again in the high 80s with only a point separating the teams. First with 88 points was the team of Jim Meggs (13), Fr Jim Curtis (15), Michael Long (19) & Oliver Brennan (23).

WEXFORD GOLF Club had 89 ladies playing in windy conditions on Thursday in the Figtree Catering Company sponsored Par V competition. Despite the conditions, very good scores were brought home and scores on the back nine were deciding factors for second and third place.

THE SENIOR ladies in St. Helen’s Bay Golf Club were in action on Tuesday playing in the Open Seniors Singles which was sponsored by St. Martin’s B&B. Nease Ui Raghnaigh won the ladies section on the back nine with a very fine score of 39 points.
